Netflix confirmed on Oct. 23 that production has started on the third season of "The Gentlemen," the British crime drama starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario. The streamer marked the milestone with a short video of the two leads hinting at a story that sends Eddie and Susie "branching out," alongside a roster of new cast members joining the ensemble.
A new location and a riskier venture for Eddie and Susie
According to Netflix's press release, season 3 follows Eddie and Susie as they attempt "their most audacious project yet: building a casino in the Middle East," a plot that brings fresh danger and tests the Duke's ambition. While the United Kingdom remains a primary filming base, the production is also shooting scenes in Morocco, a location that aligns with the series' new Middle East-set storyline.
Lord of the Rings co-stars among eight new additions
Season 3 expands its cast with eight newcomers. Robert Carlyle, Orlando Bloom, and Elijah Wood headline the additions, reuniting Bloom and Wood more than two decades after they starred together in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. They're joined by Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows, and Bugzy Malone. Netflix has not released character details for any of these roles, so it remains unclear who will appear as a series regular versus a recurring or guest performer.
Who's back, and who isn't
James and Scodelario continue leading the cast, with returning players including Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins, Benjamin Clementine, and Maya Jama. Two notable names are absent: Daniel Ings, whose character Freddy met a violent end in the season 2 finale, has confirmed he won't return, and Giancarlo Esposito will not reprise his role as American billionaire Stanley Johnston. Deadline has also reported that earlier speculation about Meghan Markle joining the show will not materialize, as she is not part of season 3.
With filming now underway, Netflix has not announced a release window, though fans are hopeful the gap between seasons 2 and 3 will be shorter than the wait between the first two installments.
